Odisha beat minnows Tripura by four wickets to register their first win in three matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy East Zone Inter-State League at Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata today. Chasing a modest target of 166, Odisha crawled to victory thanks to an unbeaten 42 by all-rounder Rakesh Mohanty and useful contributions of 33 and 31 by Lagnajit Samal and Govind Poddar respectively.
Earlier put into bat, Tripura struggled against a disciplined Odisha bowling attack and were dismissed for 165. Rakesh Mohanty also shone with his off-break bowling, bagging two wickets for 23 runs. Odisha skipper Biplab Samantaray was most economic, conceding 23 runs in 12 overs and picking up two wickets. Odisha, who lost to Bengal and Assam in their first two matches, secured four points from their win over Tripura. Odisha meium-pacer Ankit Yadav made his List A debut in this match.
